PICTURE IT PUBLISHED!

With Leslie Helene Siegel

A Hands-On Workshop for Envisioning & Holding Your Picture Book

for Writers and Illustrators

October 19, 2019

University of the Incarnate Word,

Thank you.

(TBA)

10:00 am – 1:00 pm

Our books live inside our hearts and heads until we get them out on paper, but even after we’ve drafted our best manuscript or illustration samples, it can take years to hold a finished book in our hands. Join Leslie Helene Siegel for a fun, messy morning where we’ll bring our manuscripts to life in the form of a working dummy book.

Course Description:

First, we’ll take a quick dive into the subconscious, using collage to help elicit the deeper images, themes and feelings of the manuscript or characters. Next, we’ll look at a few different methods for building dummies, and finally, we’ll take our manuscripts and lay up the text, page by page. You’ll be surprised how much you learn about your own work once it’s placed into the form of a 32-page dummy, even without the pictures! We’ll conclude the morning with a relaxing, guided visualization to help you Picture it Published!

No art experience required. Supply list below.

SCBWI Members $20, Non-members $30   (includes supply fee)
